West Coast Island Delight

Explore the lush tropical beauty and stunning natural attractions of St. Lucia's scenic west coast along the tranquil and picturesque Caribbean Sea side of the island.

Your land adventure begins in Castries, our island's charming capital.  See historic monuments and colonial architecture amid the rich tapestry of St. Lucian life.  At the Derek Walcott Square, you will see the ancient Samaan tree.  Known locally as the "Massav” tree, this huge landmark is said to be between 400-600 years old.  Also, in the square is the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.  Orginially built in 1767, it is the oldest and largest cathedral in the Caribbean.

From Castries, we make the exhilarating ascent up to the Morne Fortune Overlook.  From this peak, take in sweeping views of Castries, the north side of the island, Vigie, the cruise ships and Castries Harbor.  You will also see one of our island’s prime specimens of Victorian architecture, which today is the Governor-General Residence.

Traveling along the West Coast Road, we will visit the Roseau Banana Plantation.  Experience the sights, scents and tastes of St. Lucia’s leading export crop at the largest banana plantation in St. Lucia.  Continuing our journey, we will travel past dense rainforests, through lush tropical valleys and around towering mountains quilted in forests.  Along the coast, you will pass by the quaint, coastal villages of Anse La Raye and Canaries.  Situated in coves at the foot of steep hills, brightly coloured fishing boats line up along the shore.

As we near the coastal village of Soufriere, you will get your first glimpse of St. Lucia’s scenic jewels: the Piton Mountains, a United Nations World Heritage Site. These majestic peaks, rising some 2,600 feet above the Caribbean Sea, are breathtaking from any angle.

You will know you have approached Sulphur Springs, when you're welcomed by the unmistakable odor of sulfur!  At Sulphur Springs Park you have the choice between the mud baths or a guided tour of the collapsed volcanic crater. At the mud baths, have fun slathering yourself in warm, soft, volcanic mud and then rejuvenate yourself in a hot, sulphur mud bath.  The black pools of the mud baths are rich in minerals and are believed to have therapeutic, healing benefits for the skin and body.  Indulging in the mud baths is truly an invigorating, fun and unique experience.  If you choose the guided tour of the world’s only “drive-in” volcano, you will walk with a guide along well-paved pathways that wind through the geothermal fields. Get up close to the volcano’s crater.  See clouds of sulphur-laden steam.  Observe boiling and belching pools of hot mud and learn some fascinating insights about the historical, geological and cultural aspects of the site.

Next, absorb the serenity of Toraille Waterfall and Gardens.  Nestled amid exotic greenery, you’ll find a 50-foot waterfall with a plunge pool below. Take a refreshing dip and let the cool, cascading water provide you with an invigorating back and shoulder massage.

After an exhilarating experience, hop onboard Spencer’s speedboat for a 6-minute thrilling and scenic ride around the Petit Piton to picturesque Jalousie/Sugar Beach.  Famous for its idyllic location between the Gros and Petit Piton, you will think you are in paradise.  Soak up the sun.  Sink your toes into powdery, sugar-white sand.  Dive into the aqua blue, sparkling water of the Caribbean Sea.  Snorkel amid schools of bright tropical fish.  Marvel at the majestic Pitons flanked on each side of the beach or just relax with a complimentary, cool beverage.  With the awe-inspiring Pitons as your dramatic backdrop, you will certainly experience unforgettable and picturesque memories here!

All this and more awaits you on this delightful island tour along the scenic west coast of St. Lucia.  Are you ready to embark on an island adventure that will dazzle your senses, stimulate your mind, and leave you smiling with a once-in-a-lifetime Caribbean experience? Let us show you, St. Lucia!
